Healthy Cooking For All

In our first of four classes led by Healthy Acadia, participants learned to prepare a yogurt berry parfait.

Here at Nature Links, we’ve just begun an exciting new series in partnership with Healthy Acadia, an organization in nearby Ellsworth, Maine that is committed to building healthy communities. In a 4-part series, we’re learning all about nutritious food and how to prepare cost-effective, healthy, and simple meals. Many of our Nature Links participants already cook on their own or with assistance from a family member or aide. They find so much joy in the act of choosing, preparing, eating, and sharing meals. So often, participants will text each other a photo of their homemade pesto pizza, gluten-free oatmeal raisin cookies, or veggie stir fry they’ve made for themselves and their family members. Cooking is a place that allows all people, regardless of ability, a chance to feel fulfilled and proud. Everyone deserves a chance to experience those powerful and positive emotions.
