Winter Book Club: I Am Malala

Here at Nature Links, we’re in the habit of picking up great books to read together. The benefits of a Nature Links “book club” include being able to share reactions and questions, learn from each other, and discuss the issues these truly great texts bring up.

This winter/spring, students have chosen "I Am Malala", a memoir written by Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate. The book tells the story of Malala's childhood in the Swat Valley, her advocacy for girls' education, and the Taliban's attempt to assassinate her. It highlights her resilience, courage, and unwavering commitment to promoting education for all girls despite facing grave dangers. Through her inspiring journey, Malala has become a global symbol of hope and empowerment for girls around the world.

Students are loving the text, moved by Malala’s descriptive writing style and overall inspiring fortitude. It’s such a joy to read this engaging text together, especially one that values education as much as we do!
